Bride of Pride QUEERED
Celebrating SIX years of Playing at Pride
Friday, July 29th, 2011 at 8pm
Wise Hall – 1882 Adanac – Vancouver, Canada
Bride of Pride Queered is a BDSM playparty for kinky QUEERS** who like a damn fun time. There will be BDSM play, sex play, talking, laughing, and exploring.
Dress in whatever makes you feel good, bring your toys and your playpartners, and come join us! We encourage costumes and flights of fancy, but we won’t turn you away if you’re not in fetishwear!
Just for fun, we’ll have a few special theme areas, like puppy play, and ageplay and wrestling space and more!
Please note: While there will be snack items for sale, alcoholic beverages will not be available. We also reserve the right to toss anyone acting like an ass or harassing other players.
**ALL QUEERS WELCOME:
All QUEER people (of any taxonomic category or gender) who enjoy queer kink and BDSM, fetish, Leather and a VERY FUN TIME are welcome.
By QUEER, we mean: Fags and dykes, gay men and lesbians, bisexuals of all sorts, great big homos and those only slightly fey, transfolk and other gender warriors, multi-gendered polysexual genderfuct folks, married women with riotgrrl lovers, plus all those who feel recognised when they see a rainbow or pink triangle.
Also: newcomers and folks whose leathers are older than Beyonce: all welcome. All bodies, welcome. Locals and visitors alike; all welcome. All ages (19+), all cultures, all colours, all ability levels; welcome!
If you’re one of our absolutely heterosexual friends and allies, please respect the queer-only theme of the party and explore the numerous other party possibilities elsewhere in the city –it’s just for this one night!
WISE Hall Accessibility:
The WISE hall is partially wheelchair-accessible, through the floor-level rear entrance. Come to the front door, and at the bottom of the stairs, ring the special doorbell we’ve rigged up for folks who can’t do the stairs! Someone will come out and arrange to let you in the level-ground back door entrance.
We’ll have some volunteer runner-people to help folks with physical disabilities carry bags to and from cars and help with any scene set-up. Please ask as you come in. If you have other accessibility concerns, please contact us and we’ll help with arrangements.
Link to The Full Access Audit:
The WISE is a local mainstay for a wide variety of events, including concerts, dances, rehearsals, receptions, film shoots, meetings, play parties, weddings, classes and seminars. After going through some renovations, while it is not fully wheelchair accessible (neither the stage nor the current “men’s” washroom is wheelchair accessible, folks using wheelchairs must enter and exit via the rear door with assistance, it is only possible to transfer from one side of the toilet, etc.), it is more accessible than ever before.
You’ll note on arrival a set of railed stairs leading into the Hall. The wheelchair accessible entrance is around back. For certain events there will be someone posted at the door throughout the event and/or a bell system will be rigged up to ensure no one has to wait out there to be let in. If this has not been clarified by organizers already, please consider contacting them for details.
Once inside, you’ll find a spacious wood-floored hall, open concept, tables and chairs set up throughout. The stage (accessible only via stairs) is to your left, and the washrooms towards the back of the hall. The washrooms are currently gendered, but sometimes will be marked “gender neutral”. There are two sets of washrooms. The one to the left of the bar is currently marked “men”, is on the same level but not wheelchair accessible, with urinals and one stall. The one to the right of the bar, currently marked “women”, is wheelchair accessible with no urinals. Please note that there are no tampon dispensers, sharps containers or scent free soaps provided at The WISE, so please come prepared!
There is free parking on the surrounding streets, bike lockups outside, and accessible transit within a few blocks.
If you have any questions, concerns, additions, corrections, or kudos regarding this accessibility audit, please email the Auditor at: firstname.lastname@example.org
